Primeurs 2024

LED BY THE HEART

2024 was all about conviction. You needed plenty of it to get through the steady rain, a threat which lingered all the way to harvest time.

We may have been lucky, sure, but we were also determined not to let the rain have the final word. When the weather tests you, you have to react. Don’t wait until it’s too late. And don’t rush the things that take time. Keep moving forward, making the right move at the right moment. This was a season of rare intensity, and our teams committed heart and soul to the task – the resulting wine is a triumph, a superb victory over doubt.

KÉVIN

"We believed. Slowly but surely the vines grew and we helped, working on intuition."

IN UNISON

BELIEF, WHATEVER THE WEATHER

We believed.
Before the first bud broke, before the sap rose.
Even when the winter left the ground sodden.
Even when the clouds hung heavy over the spring. The horses trod the damp ground
And we followed their footsteps in the clay,
Resolute as the rain.
The vines were hesitant – not us.
We had to be there.
Out in the vineyards, day after day,
For however long it took,
Living on our wits, putting our knowledge to the test.
Decisions, decisions.
Staying true to our convictions:
Our first certified Organic vintage.
Summer finally arrived, all of a sudden.
A calm force opening new horizons.
Slowly but surely the vines grew
And we helped, working on intuition
Rather than old assumptions
sometimes the right move isn’t in the book.
The grapes came through it all.

DEVOTION

REVELATION

DEVOTION

SEEING IT THROUGH TO THE VERY END

We believed,
Even amid the maelstrom of the harvest.
The grapes took their sweet time to reveal their sugars.
Every day, we pored over the maturity data, obsessing over the ultimate dilemma:
To wait, or not to wait?
Then it was time to go: intuition, informed by analysis.
Secateur time, the moment of truth.
Finally, time to cut ourselves free from the threat hanging over us.
Patience and devotion into the night.
But the yields were promising.
From the vines to the presses, no time for compromise.
Cold settling of the must this year, to magnify the fruit.
In the winery and in our hearts, hope was beginning to blossom.
Fermentation under complete control.
Temperatures kept in check.
Pumping over with the utmost delicacy.
The colour soon came, and the aromatic potential followed.
There in the vat room, we got our first impression.
It was as vibrant as the season:
The wine had arrived.

FIG.1

Equipment maintenance is carried out in-house to ensure its permanent availability. To be 100% operational.

FIG.2

Red fescue, forage rye, oats, hairy vetch... Seeds were sown to improve soil bearing capacity and combat erosion. They proved particularly important this year to ensure our entry into the plots.

FIG.3

The choice of harvest dates proved particularly strategic this year. Following our intuition, we began on September 19, two days earlier than originally planned. A life-saving decision.

FIG.4

The vintage was a true revelation in the cellars. With slightly lower potential alcohol levels, the alcoholic fermentations went particularly well. Color extraction was rapid and perfect.

REVELATION

A STYLE REVELATION

We believed.
Throughout ageing, into the blend.
We had two very clear-cut varieties on our hands:
— a vintage of authentic character.
Merlot: 78% of the blend, the backbone.
Fruit, substance, smooth as silk.
Cabernet Franc: 22% of sustenance,
All aromas and spices.
The wine finally revealed itself to us, whole and intact. A vintage with a sense of fulfilment.
A floral palette of crimson :
With violet, lilac and rose petals.
Then comes the red of summer fruit:
Strawberries, raspberries and juicy watermelons.
Green finds its way in airy touches:
Rosemary, mint and blackcurrant buds,
As if stolen from a Sauvignon.
Altogether vibrant and enveloping.
Texture and tension in a single stroke.
Sapid energy with a lingering saline finish, the signature of the limestone terroir.
